How do I get out of the plant?

You can't go out the main door -- it's being guarded.
But talk to Hobbins, and you'll learn about the back way out.
The elevator that the transport droid uses will take you down a level, at least.
You will need to get the elevator working first.
Then you can go through the hole that the droid creates as it approaches the elevator and go down the next level.

Cannot get to Syria

If you are stuck in the game and cannot get to the Syria section it is because you have hit a nasty bug which occurs if you play the game in a certain order. To avoid this bug you need to get the Marib clue from the Montfaucon sewers before going to Spain. To get the clue you need to use the Gem and the Tripod on the stone column in the Templar meeting room.

Crash on opening game

This is possibly an issue with the sound crashing on the device. On Android devices running version 4.1.2 or higher, you can generate system bug reports that contain much more information than a standard crash report to help us track down issues without an obvious cause. To take a bug report, please follow these steps:

  1. Reproduce the issue in Broken Sword
  2. Open the device's Settings screen
  3. Scroll to the bottom, open Developer Options
  4. If this option isn't available, go to About phone instead, and tap Build number (like "JOP40C") 7 times. This will enable Developer Options in the main menu
  5. Tap Take Bug Report
  6. Wait a minute or two, the device is now gathering data and zipping it into a package
  7. A dialog will open where you can choose the program to email the file, send it to support@revolution.co.uk

General Crash

The problem is related to a memory issue. The game is very demanding in terms of graphics and will crash at key scenes if there isn't enough memory to run it. If the update for some reason does not resolve this, please delete any large files such as movies or unwanted apps from your device. Reboot your device (as per these instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430) and ensure no apps are running in the background when you start Broken Sword 5.

What are the three Full Screen Display settings for?

Basically the three Full Screen modes each try to achieve a full screen image in different ways: The first one asks your computer for a resolution appropriate for the game - for instance, 1280x720. Every driver handles that in different ways - some will give the game what it asked for, others will stretch, shrink, letterbox or otherwise work out how to display the game based on their own logic. This means depending on your set-up the game can look very different. The other two scale the screen to match your current desktop resolution, one preserving the aspect ratio whilst the other simply stretches. For the HD assets, if the game detects you've got a resolution of 1920 x 1080 or higher it will use these graphics, otherwise it will use the normal set.

Menu/Hint text turns to gibberish

Search for a file called graphics.vt7a in the folder where you have the game installed. If the file is present, you need to delete it. This will solve the issue.

Game collapses to the task bar during the intro.

This is most often caused by a screensaver - Broken Sword 5, by default, doesn't change your screensaver settings. This means if you have a screensaver set to display after a short period, (such as 1 minute,) it will override the game and minimize it. The easiest solution is to disable your screensaver or change your settings so that the screensaver will not interrupt the longer movies.

The game is only showing part of the screen (Windows 8.1)

This issue can be helped by disabling the display scaling which can be found under the high DPI settings on the BS5 exe.
