For quite some time we have been dropping hints about our next game - and now, finally, we are delighted to be able to confirm that we’ve been working on the long awaited sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky:

Beyond A Steel Sky

Charles and Dave Gibbons have been keen to write the game for several years - indeed our Broken Sword 5 Kickstarter campaign listed a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky as a stretch goal - but we didn’t want to announce anything until we had something to show. We are delighted to confirm that Dave returns to bring his creative genius to the game world, characters, and story.

We are thrilled by the passion that so many people have for Beneath a Steel Sky. So our prime objective is to ensure that the sequel captures the essence of the original game, whilst using the latest technology to deliver a stunning visual look.

Charles has long expressed a desire to pursue the Virtual Theatre system that Revolution pioneered with our early games. So this game is very much the culmination of 30 years of Revolution’s experience writing adventure games (for Charles it’s almost 40 years!).

Beyond a Steel Sky is a dramatic, humorous, cyberpunk thriller in which fun, engaging puzzles drive a timely, intelligent narrative. The hugely ambitious adventure is set in a dynamic gameworld that will respond to - and be subverted by - the player’s actions. The intelligent responses of game characters will allow multiple interesting (and fun) solutions to puzzles.

We are very proud that Beyond a Steel Sky was announced as a lead title for Apple Arcade in March and are hugely excited to be partnering with Apple to bring a console quality game to mobile Apple devices. The game will release concurrently on PC with other formats to be announced.
