This website uses Google Analytics to collect anonymous information about website traffic. Google Analytics uses “cookies”, small text files placed on your computer, to collect visitor behaviour. For example, how many visitors came to our website this month, how many pages were visited, and the rough geographic location of the visitor.
When Personal Information is Submitted
If you register on the forum or backer panel, some personal information such as your name and email address will be submitted to our website. Typically, your email is used for logging in and to recover your password if you have forgotten it.
We try to avoid asking for any personal information we don’t need. For example, we don’t ask for a shipping address unless there is a physical item that needs to be shipped to you. And if we do ask for more, we try to keep it anonymous and optional. For example, we have a short survey on the backer panel. It asks questions such as what your age and favourite game is. Answers are collected and stored anonymously, in a separate place to your name/shipping address/etc., so they can’t be tied back to you. On top of that, the survey is optional. We don’t force anyone to answer it as part of our service, although we really do appreciate it when people take the time to do so.
When you register on the backer panel we will email you updates about Broken Sword 5. If you do not wish to receive these emails you can unsubscribe by following a link in the email you receive. Please note that unsubscribing from updates may cause you to miss important information, such as release dates and when digital rewards become available.
Personal Information and Third Parties
We do not share the information you submit to our forums with third parties. However, threads in our forums are publically viewable, so please be aware that any personal information you decide to post in a forum thread is exposed to the general public.
Personal information entered in the backer panel, such as your shipping address, may be shared with a third party for the purpose of manufacturing and shipping your rewards. For example, if you pledged for a t-shirt we’ll have to tell our partners what your address is, or the t-shirt will just be stuck in a warehouse somewhere!
We trust our partners not to share this information with anyone else. And we won’t share your information with any third parties unless strictly necessary for our commitment to you, such as delivering rewards.
When you play our games on Android and iOS, we collect some anonymous metrics to help us give better support to a variety of platforms and improve our gameplay. These include:
A device identifier (either the Google ANDROID_ID or the iOS Device ID)
The device type and OS version
Game progress and interaction, such as hints and features used.
We do not have a way to, nor do we seek to, use any of this information (including device identifier) to link it to any personal data. For example, we might be able to see that 20 people have found a particular easter egg, but we don’t know who those people are. No information we collect from game sessions is shared with third parties.
We would like to add the option to opt out of metrics in the near future.
Access to Information
You have the right to access information held about you. You can access the majority of information we hold via the respective areas (eg. forums, backer panel). Transaction histories are managed via the respective payment processor (eg. Google Play, iTunes, PayPal). Most of these will show the same transaction history to you as it does to us. If you have any questions or concerns, just send us an email on firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’d be happy to answer.
